With his unceasing pursuit for perfection and uniqueness, K.P.R. Nair has carved a distinct niche for himself in the Indian publishing industry. In his nearly four-decades in the industry, K.P.R. Nair has held his own ground — despite the relentless invasion of foreign-owned mega publishing houses with deep pockets, and consistently brought out stand-out titles year after year, earning wide regard.
K.P.R. Nair has nearly four decades of experience in the Indian publishing industry where he is known for his significant contributions to enriching the public discourse. Along with Kyra Global, he is also the Managing Director of Konark Publishers Pvt. Ltd, New Delhi, one of the well-known publishing houses in India. He has brought out top-selling titles by eminent authors who include the late veteran journalist Kuldip Nayar, the late Indian foreign secretary J.N. Dixit, and the late top Indian bureaucrat M.K. Kaw. Present Indian Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is a Konark author, and so is retired Indian Army Lt Gen. Zameer Uddin Shah, as well as Princess Aswathi Thirunal Gouri Lakshmi Bayi of the Travancore royal family.
Prior to setting up Konark, he held senior positions in many renowned publishing houses, including Thomson Press. During this stint he collaborated with international publishing houses like Allen Unwin, Hamish Hamilton, Pergamon Press, Abacus Books, Sphere Books, etc. Among the prominent authors he published earlier are Dominique Lapierre and Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer.
In 2017, he was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Federation of Indian Publishers for his contribution to the industry.
